COBIN Angels joins Global Business Angels Network

We're proud to announce that COBIN Angels joined the Global Business Angels Network (GBAN) operated by the Global Entrepreneurship Network! GBAN is an inclusive global community of early-stage investor networks seeking to increase access to early-stage capital by developing angel investor capacity in burgeoning entrepreneurship ecosystems.

Directed by leading angel investor networks around the world, GBAN mentors new national investor networks, provides training and support to improve investor capacity, amplifies the angel “voice” to regulatory issue discussions, advances policies removing barriers to investors, and facilitates cross-border investing.

“Joining GBAN is a perfect continuation of our activities in the Central and Eastern Europe region and beyond,” said Robert Lugowski, founder and managing partner of COBIN Angels. “As part of our mission, we are supporting the development of the startup ecosystem, especially by educating and encouraging angel investors. Together with our new GBAN partners, we are looking forward to increasing international cooperation, cross-border investments, and sharing of know-how among angel networks around the world.”

GBAN is led by a global board of directors with members based in Africa, North America, Asia and Europe. The members, currently over 80 different networks and organizations, meet regularly to share experience, training, support, and to provide mentorship.

“As economies recover from the pandemic, a collaborative global approach is needed to ensure entrepreneurs – who are leading the charge when it comes to regenerating jobs – have access to the right capital at the right time,” said Jonathan Ortmans, president of the Global Entrepreneurship Network and board director at GBAN. “We are thrilled that COBIN Angels is committed to joining us in this work.”

The GBAN annual meeting will be held November 14-17 at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC). GEC 2021 is anticipated to be one of the first live global gatherings of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and other startup champions since the onset of the pandemic. GBAN delegates will examine the new global landscape through an investor lens.
